Action Calisthenics Inc was started and introduced to the ACT calisthenics community in the summer holidays of 1995/96. Action’s first classes commenced in February 1996. Providing a fresh new club Action’s vision was to introduce a young, but enthusiastic coaching team to the local Belconnen/Gungahlin area.
The founding club members still involved in the club today include the Lawler Family (Hanna, Joanna and Caitlin), and Carmen Doig. The commitment from these people illustrates the commitment and passion still fostered by the club and its members today.
Over the years, our coaching team has built up in strength and we continue to have a very dedicated and supportive group of parents at both committee and team levels.
From our humble beginnings, very limited finances and no costumes, we have achieved a great deal. We now have a fabulous selection of costumes, sponsorships, a year book, fantastic bonding and fundraising events and a strong club spirit.
Action Calisthenics conducts classes for all ages from Cali Kinda (2 years old) to Seniors (18 years and older). Classes range from 45 minutes to 3 hours in duration and are held at the Kippax Uniting Community Church Centre located on the corner of Hardwick Cres and Luke St in Holt, ACT.
Action Calisthenics presents an experienced coaching staff all of whom have gained National Coaching Accreditation to at least Level One. Action also offers cadetships for experienced, enthusiastic calisthenics girls to train as coaches.
Action Calisthenics Inc would like to acknowledge the support provided by its many volunteers, past and present. Without the support and enthusiasm from our many parents and supporters the club could not be as successful, or operate in the professional manner which has seen us fly through our first decade in operation and enter our second. Not only does our committee of parent volunteers provide administration and financial support to coaches and participants, but also guides the way forward in achieving our ultimate goals.
